About the Little Black Dog

Our Story

Pastries for All!

Little Black Dog was founded on the idea that everyone and their dog deserves a sweet high-quality artisanal dessert. With that goal in mind, Pastry Chef Claire Vesyoly started this bakery to cater to folks and pups from all walks of life. As a dog lover, Claire wanted to provide sweet treats for all of her loved ones, both on two and four legs, which inspired her to start the Little Black Dog Bakery, where she can bring her passion for baking and the pastry arts to all, no matter who or what you are.

Meet the Chef

Claire Vesyoly is the owner, operator, and pastry chef for the Little Black Dog Bakery. A Bloomington native, Claire has wanted to be a pastry chef ever since she was a child, when she regularly helped her mother Michele bake fresh bread, brownies, cookies, and other baked treats in their tiny home kitchen. Since then, Claire has cultivated a diverse range of influences from the modern and fast-paced pastry scene in New York City, to the traditional French pastries of old Québec. After earning her degree in the pastry arts, she has traveled extensively to research pastries from different cultures and refine her culinary technique and style. Chef Claire has worked in several local Bloomington restaurants including Feast and the Elm.
